With the recent fires in the Warsaw Fire Protection District, we wanted to make it easier for the public to share their photos with us.
We would like to announce the launch of our new hashtag: #wfpd65355 which you can use in any post or on any photo of the WFPD in action!
All you have to do to use the hashtag is go into the photo or post description and put the # sign followed by our letters and zip code, as seen above. That’s it. It really is that easy. Please note: This does not give us permission to USE your photo. If you want to grant us usage permission, you must also state that in the post and description.
Also note: This is NOT a way to REPORT fires. Please call 911 if you need to REPORT a fire.
Now, you’re probably asking how hashtags are used and how we can find your posts among the billions (trillions?) on the internet. On social media, hashtags are clickable and they automatically open a search which pulls up every photo and post in which the hashtag is used on the social media platform you are using (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). You can also copy and paste the hashtag or type it in a search engine and it will bring up everything associated with the hashtag. You can see a screenshot of the search below.

Once everyone starts using the hashtag, instead of no results found for #wfpd65355, we will see photos, articles, and more in the results!
We are hopeful that this will bring more attention to our department’s activities, not just the fires we respond to, but also the public outreach, celebrations, and more!
