We are continuing to catch up on old meeting posts and also bring you the most current ones!
The July 29th meeting started with the good-bye barbecue for one of our firefighters who is leaving for Texas. We appreciate his service and wish him and his family well in his new home! Of course, we never turn down a reason to barbecue!!! Thank goodness firefighter Cady was there to run the grill!
What’s better to pair with a firetruck than a dalmation? Nothing! We had a visit from the very emblem of animals who represent the fire department! Thank you to Candy for bringing out this amazing dog!
We got in a quick final picture of most of the department before the firefighter who is leaving for Texas got sprayed with a hose!
Everyone then went inside for Chief Rob and Captain Terry’s meeting. Chief Rob started by talking about the Reiser Funeral Home fire, where the fire was caused by a junction box in between floors, and how it the insulation smoldered until the fire got to a 2 by 4 and started an actual fire.
After that, we all applauded Cady for her barbecue skills and thanked her for cooking the hot dogs and burgers for us.
Chief then switched to talking about postponing air pack training because of the heat. Instead, tonight’s training was going around to learn where everything is on the trucks. We can’t emphasize enough just how important it is to know where everything is on the trucks we use.
Chief then talked about firefighter classes at the University of Missouri and getting firefighters from different stations to attend.
There was a good-bye announcement for the firefighter leaving for Texas.
There was then a round of applause for the three people who had birthdays. Two cadets turned 18 years old and were promoted to firefighters.
After everyone was dismissed, the firefighters and cadets headed out to check out the trucks.
We can’t wait for our next training. Captain Terry has some fun practice in store which he thinks the firefighters will like!
