A lot of things happened during our last fire meeting!
To start the night off, Captain Terry talked about the fire they had gone to and explained how everyone on-scene handled it: Ron, James, and Cady got the hose ready and the hydrant hooked up while Terry did a walk-around and cut the power on the outside of the house. Only then did Cady and James put on their Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and Breathing Apparatus (BA) to fight the fire.

Terry talked about how dumpster fires were different from other fires and to wear all of your PPE and your BA. Some of the firefighters said that they would tackle the fire immediately and from a distance (even if they think there’s something that may explode), while some said they stay back to get more information.
Other topics discussed by the firefighters in the internal portion of the meeting included making sure that firefighters know not to show up on a scene under the influence, and making sure that the electric company gets called after a fire where the house’s meter was pulled.
Following those topics, another one was brought up and discussed: the recent tactics being used against firefighters and other first responders in other cities.
After that, the internal portion of the meeting was concluded and training was about to begin. The firefighters went out to do pump training on Tamara Lane. They flushed out the hydrant and hooked up the hoses.
Several firefighters got the chance to shoot off the hoses before the storm rolled in. Someone got water on the camera lens!
When the rain rolled in, the firefighters packed everything up quickly to head back to the station.
Several firefighters did end up thoroughly soaked regardless, but everyone got inside to dry off and to conclude the meeting.
