As a whole, we asked the WFPD Board about their hopes and dreams for the future of the WFPD.
“We are aiming for a 1/3/5 year plan. Among the goals are to make it more interesting and engaging to be a firefighter, encourage the growth of the department as needed, build a training center which will not only be a home for our firefighters, but for firefighters from all over the county and state, and finally have a small, paid department.”
We also asked how the residents could help the WFPD.
We are always seeking monetary donations, but beyond that, land donations (perhaps for the future station/training center), grants available for volunteer departments (most grants are only available to paid departments), and everyday things for the firefighters.
*We use all of the everyday things at the station like bottled water, gatorade, paper products (plates, napkins, paper towels, toilet paper), K cups, Tide Pods (Free and Gentle) to clean the gear, sharpening tools for the Husqvarna chainsaws, cleaning supplies, etc.
